The Best Grilled Chicken Marinade Ever – Easy Chicken Marinade Recipe

Keep in mind that this really is just a basic guideline and you can sub in your favorites, but I have been loving this mix just as is!

  • Dried Thyme I usually use dried, but you can use fresh if you have it. If using fresh, youll want to use 3 tablespoons instead of 1.
  • Dried Oregano The same as the thyme above if subbing in fresh, use 3 tablespoons. I would roughly chop it, as well.
  • Ground Cumin This brings a smoky flavor that is a must for me!
  • Paprika I have been a smoked paprika addict lately, so I will sometimes use smoked paprika instead of plain paprika. But both are delicious!
  • Onion Powder This gives a lot of flavor.
  • Salt I use kosher salt not table salt.
  • Pepper I like freshly ground pepper, but regular pepper will work here, especially if you arent using all of the seasoning and saving some for later.

How To Make The Best Sundried Tomato Cream Marry Me Chicken:

  • Start by heating olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken breasts for about 4-5 minutes per side. Season well with salt and pepper.
  • Remove the chicken from the skillet and add finely diced garlic. Cook for only 1 minute since garlic can easily burn. Add thyme, red pepper flakes, chicken broth, and cream to skillet. Cook until cream sauce begins to thicken — about 5 minutes. Stir in sundried tomatoes.
  • Remove from heat and add chicken to the skillet. Spoon sauce all over the chicken. Place in an oven set at 375 degrees and cook for 15-18 minutes to until chicken is cooked through. If using thinly sliced chicken breasts, reduce baking time.
  • Top with fresh basil and freshly grated parmesan cheese, if so desired.

    The Best Chicken Marinade Recipe

When we were newly married, we lived near Dean’s brother, his wife, and two kids. We were living in an apartment, going to college full-time, and working crazy hours to pay the bills. We were poor little college students and would love when Deron and Sarah would invite us over for dinner. Their go-to meal was grilled chicken in a delish marinade. They knew how much we loved it so we ate it almost every time we had dinner at their home.

So I had to ask her what was in this amazing chicken marinade recipe. It is beyond simple! I decided to tweak it and add a few more flavors to make it extra tangy and zesty.

This Grilled Chicken Marinade Recipe is made with extra virgin olive oil, freshly squeezed lemon juice, balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, salt, and pepper. You have such a variety of seasonings in this marinade.

The extra virgin olive oil keeps the chicken extra moist and juicy. The fresh lemon juice and balsamic vinegar break down the fibers in the chicken to make it tender. The soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce give it a salty depth of flavor. The brown sugar adds some rich sweetness and gives the chicken a nice crust when grilled. All of the ingredients work together in such harmony to make the perfect chicken marinade!

Easy Grilled Chicken Recipe with Homemade Spice Rub

Bone-in chicken breasts tend to have more flavor than their boneless siblings but take longer to cook. How To Season Chicken Breast

After making the seasoning, you can then season chicken breast with it.

First, you need to pat dry the chicken breast.

Brush the breast pieces with olive oil. It helps to stick seasoning on the chicken.

Add one tablespoon of dry rub seasoning to one pound of breast pieces. You can increase or decrease the amount of seasoning according to the chicken sizes.

The chicken breast pieces can be cooked immediately but if you want more flavorful chicken then you need to marinate it for at least one hour or a maximum of overnight before cooking. Remember to keep the chicken in the refrigerator after it is seasoned.

For skinless chicken add seasoning into cuts of chicken while for skin-on chicken, add the seasoning under the chickens skin to give it proper flavor. Sprinkle the seasoning all over the chicken so it’s evenly coated.

A grilled peach and arugula salad completes this meal for the perfect summer dinner.

Work The Seasoning Into The Chicken

Once youve covered the chicken with your binder, the next step is to season the chicken.

Should I sprinkle or rub the seasoning onto my chicken?

100% rub the seasoning in .

Imagine if you accidentally sprinkled some chili powder onto your white top. The last thing youre going to do is get your fingers and rub it in. Rubbing it in would make it harder to get out!

The same applies to chicken. The seasoning will stick much better if its worked into the chicken rather than just sprinkled on top.

There are loads of tiny little fissures and cracks on the surface of the chicken. They arent visible to the naked eye, but as you knead the seasoning into the chicken, the spices will get trapped in these holes and are therefore less likely to fall off.

Rubbing the seasoning in also helps mix it in with the binder increasing its effectiveness.

Use your fingers or your knuckles, and rub the seasoning into the chicken until youve covered every part.

Once you have the seasoning ingredients mixed together, youre ready to season some chicken!

    • Start by patting the chicken dry using paper towels.
    • Rub a small amount of olive oil over the chicken to help the seasoning stick to the meat.
    • Use about 1 tablespoon of the seasoning mix per pound of chicken. You will need more seasoning for smaller pieces of chicken since there is more overall surface area per pound of meat.

    • If you are using chicken with skin, try to rub some seasoning under the skin to flavor the meat.
    • For food safety, discard any unused rub that has come in contact with raw chicken or your hands as you handle raw chicken.

If you can only marinate the chicken for 30 minutes, then marinate at room temperature to expedite the marinating process, however, dont marinate longer than 30 minutes at room temperature otherwise dangerous bacteria can grow and lead to foodborne illnesses. Brushing the reserved marinade on the cooked chicken will also help amplify the flavor if youre short on time.

    What Is A Dry Rub

A dry rub is a combination of dry spices, herbs, salt, and pepper combined with your preferred flavor profile. The term Dry Rub and Seasoning are often used synonymously. Look on any store bought rub or seasoning and youll see similar ingredients. If were not using simply salt and pepper, were referring to this mix as a Dry Rub.

This is a combination of herbs and spices that we generally apply liberally to our protein of choice. Making a home made rub or seasoning is easy and we follow some basic principles in creating the right rub for your chicken, beef, or pork.

This particular one is fantastic for chicken or other poultry for the purpose of grilling or smoking!

    Easy Grilled Chicken Marinade Ingredients

    Best Ever Grilled Chicken Marinade

This easy grilled chicken marinade is made with a balance of savory, tangy ingredients and a unique spice blend for an oomph of effortless complex flavor. You will need:

    • Chicken: boneless chicken breasts pounded to an even thickness or chicken thighs.
    • Olive oil: use quality extra virgin olive oil for the best flavor.
    • Soy sauce: grounds the marinade it will not give the chicken an Asian vibe. Use reduced sodium soy sauce so we can control the salt.
    • Balsamic vinegar: adds a subtle, complex fruity, sweet tanginess. Use Balsamic Vinegar of Modena I.G.P. for the best flavor like this one. Grape must should always be the first ingredient followed only by vinegar.
    • Lemon juice: brightens the flavor profile. Freshly squeezed is best but you can get away with bottled because its just a splash.
    • Brown sugar: balances the soy, balsamic and lemon juice and helps caramelize the chicken as it cooks. Use light brown sugar for rich sweetness.
    • Dijon mustard: adds a depth of tanginess. I promise it wont make your grilled chicken taste like mustard!
    • Seasonings: dried oregano, dried basil, dried thyme, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper and red pepper flakes inject the grilled chicken marinade with a rainbow of flavor.

    When Should I Season Chicken

The best time to season chicken is whenever its convenient for you.

Dry seasoning doesnt penetrate the meat in the same way a marinade does. It wont make a discernible difference to the taste if you leave the seasoning on for 10 minutes or 10 hours.

The only thing to be wary of is if your seasoning contains any tenderizing ingredients . Leaving these on too long may turn your chicken a little mushy.

But by too long, were talking days, so its likely the chicken will have gone off by then anyway.

I love seasonings. But I hadnt found one that was more all-purpose. I grew up on this being very seasoned. My dad has his to-go-to favorite Lawrys seasoning salt. The first time my husband went to grill he just threw a whole bunch of seasonings together and I was like wait, you arent using Lawrys??? He laughed.

Now he loves Lawrys but we like to change it up and since I have such distinct memories of that seasoning, I dont see it as all-purpose. So while I was on the search for the best all-purpose seasoning I decided to make my own. After some trial and error, this All-Purpose Chicken Seasoning was the winner.

It proved itself this past week for dinner. When I grilled up chicken for our salad, 5 chicken breast for 6 of us and it was devoured. Best chicken ever exclaimed Madden. Wow, that is a big comment coming from my most picky eater.
