Jim Jarmuschs latest film is the story of a pair of vampires, Adam and Eve , married for thousand of years and living thousands of miles apart, subsequently reunited in modern-day Detroit to find Hiddleston in state of disrepair and depression. Their lives are shaken up by the sudden appearance of Swintons wayward young vampire sister Ava that sets their lives into tumult. It’s the type of evenly-paced and wryly amusing dramedy that only Jarmusch could craft. I loved the atmosphere and sensibility of this film, not to mention the various literary allusions along with the dark, somber soundtrack. Less of a narrative and more of a modern-day-vampire-slice-of-life, this is one of those films that gets under skin and stays awhile .

If by chick flick, you mean, films that are about a group of women obsessed with make-up and break-ups, then I would answer yes to the second question. But I dont think thats what a chick flick is. The idea of a chick flick is and should be different. A film with central women characters dealing in female issues could be a chick flick. Or a film that a woman can enjoy with her female friends can also be a chick flick. So, what I am saying is, the definition of a chick flick is not set in stone. For all practical purposes, I know many men, including myself, who love to watch chick flicks.
Zack Snyders Justice League
At four hours in length, Zack Snyders Justice League is really for interested parties only, but for those with even a passing familiarity with Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman and Wonder Woman, this HBO Max exclusive marks a fascinating, rich and wildly different take on Justice League than the one that was released in theaters in 2017. Presented in six chapters with an epilogue, everyone gets more story this time around, and its for the better. Cyborg provides some emotional heft Superman actually gets some depth and Ben Afflecks Batman gets more to do than half-heartedly pull together a Justice League. This film is director Zack Snyders unfiltered vision for better and for worse, and that includes some major teases for sequels that never came to fruition, plenty of violence and lots of slow motion. And honestly? Its good.
