Its always best to use a meat thermometer to check for doneness, since chicken breasts can dry out quickly if overcooked.

Place your prepared chicken breasts into a 425º F oven. Set your timer initially for 30 minutes. The thickness of your chicken will really determine how long you will need to cook these frozen chicken breasts.

Whenever I make this recipe, I start with a timer of 30 minutes and then check the internal temperature of the chicken using an instant read thermometer. The chicken is fully cooked when it reaches an internal temperature of 165ºF. I highly recommend investing in an instant read thermometer to cook chicken correctly. It helps so you dont undercook the chicken and make people sick, or even over cook the chicken and dry it out.

After 30 minutes, see what temperature your chicken has reached. If you still need to cook the chicken longer, set your timer for another 5-10 minutes and check the temperature again.

For this recipe I had pretty thick chicken breasts, these took about 45 minutes to cook all the way through.

What If The Chicken Is Not Cooked

Sometimes it happens. Instant Pot is basically a computer. So, it is not perfect. Altitude, pressure cooker size and type could be the factors.

The best way to check is to poke the thickest part of the breast with a fork or insert an instant read thermometer. If juices are a bit pink or internal temperature reads below 165 degrees F, cook 2 more minutes.

This time Instant Pot will come to pressure much faster because its contents are hot. Also make sure valve is set to Sealing.

At What Temperature Should I Bake The Chicken

  • I usually use medium heat, which is 375 degrees Fahrenheit / 180 degrees Celsius. I would not use a lower temperature.
  • You can also bake the meat at a higher temperature 400 degrees Fahrenheit/ 200 degrees Celsius in this case, the portions will need less time you should reduce the cooking time by a few minutes.

    So what does that leave? Essentially, simmering and roasting . The general guideline you need to know is that it will take around 50 percent longer than if you’re starting with a chicken that is fully thawed.

    Thus, if a 5-pound chicken would normally take 1 1/2 hours to roast, a frozen one would take at least 2 hours and 15 minutes.
