How To Make Vegan Cheese:

Quickest & Easiest Seitan Recipe (Vegan Chicken)

To start you will need to first soften your cashews so that they will be easier to blend until a smooth and creamy cheese.

Soften the cashews: Add the cashews to a medium pot and cover with water. Put over high heat and bring to a boil. Boil for about 10 minutes until the cashews are tender. Drain and rinse with cold water. Alternatively, you can soak the cashews, by placing the cashews in a bowl, covering them with water, and allowing the cashews to soak for a minimum of 6 hours or overnight. Drain and rinse before using.

Blend the cheese: Add the softened cashews to a food processor along with the coconut oil, olive bring, garlic, and salt. Blend until smooth, creamy, and sticky, stopping to scrape the sides as needed. You want to make sure you blend this very well so that it gets as smooth as possible. It will likely get warm when blending from the friction. I blend mine for about 5 minutes, stopping to scrape the sides.

Form the cheese: Line two molds , or two small bowls with a square of cheesecloth. Divide the cheese among the two cheesecloth-lined molds. If you are adding fresh herbs, sprinkle them over the cheese and then use a chopstick or something similar to swirl the herbs into the cheese.

I like to keep one cheese wheel of quick & easy vegan cheese plain with no add-ins, and the other wheel with added herbs. Smooth the top of the cheese with a spatula and then fold the cheesecloth over the cheese.

When Is Tofu Perfectly Cooked

There isnt really an exact time frame for when tofu is fully cooked. Many people simply follow the rule of crispy on the outside.

We must admit, we also follow this rule because tofu is very hard to overcook and virtually impossible to undercook. Under-done tofu is simply cold and firm on the inside. However, it is still completely fine to eat.

Instructions On How To Make Baked Tofu Bites:

For vegan recipes and posts from the blog: It Doesn

In a bowl , mix together the nutritional yeast, olive oil, soy sauce and garlic powder. This is your marinade.

Drain excess moisture from the tofu block and then break into small chunks and add them to the bowl. .

Toss the tofu well to evenly coat in the sauce mixture. Spread the tofu evenly across the baking sheets and bake about 30 minutes, stirring halfway through, until lightly golden.

Serve hot or store in an air-tight container in the fridge to use later, or they freeze well too. Great as main, as nuggets, on salads, on stir-fries, in sandwiches, in tacos, on pasta, on nachos, the options are endless, use these everywhere! The Chicken Of Tomorrow

The winners were from Vantress Hatchery in California.

They were big, averaging 3.75 pounds, and scored 3.17 for feed efficiency, which means it took just over 3 pounds of feed for every pound of chicken.

This is what agricultural types call improvement. And it had been going on at a slowish pace for a couple of decades already. Back in 1923, it took 16 weeks to get a chicken to a relatively puny live broiler weight of 2.2 pounds, with a feed efficiency of 4.7. By 1933, that same broiler had gained half a pound and took two fewer weeks to do so.

How did these miracle chickens taste? No one knows. The judges didnt measure flavor. The point of the contest, after all, was to create a chicken that looked like a wax model.

The very principle demonstrated at the Chicken of Tomorrow contest would go on to doom the flavor of chicken and dumplings for decades to come: Chickens can be changed through breeding.

Growth rate and plumpness werent fixed physical laws, like the speed of light or the electrical charge of a proton. By choosing which rooster got to mate with which hens, you could change chickens genes. You could make chicks that were different much different from their parents.

Those genes kept changing. By 1951, the Chicken of Tomorrow winners got fat two weeks earlier than they did in 1948, and by 1955, the winning chickens of 1951 were just average. By 1973, it was down to 8½ weeks.

The Quickest And Easiest Seitan Recipe

Just 20 minutes to make, and only 7 ingredients, this is by far the quickest and easiest seitan recipe ever!! This vegan chicken alternative is simple to whip up and perfect to add to any meal. Crispy crunchy on the outside, and tender chewy in the middle. The perfect meaty texture to amp up any vegan meal! If you are new to making seitan this is the perfect recipe for beginners to try.

I came across a video on TikTok by @futurelettuce showing a 15-minute seitan recipe. I had to try it immediately! Unfortunately, even after trying it a few times, I wasn’t super happy with the results. The seitan is first fried, and then you cover the pan with a lid for 10 minutes to cook it through. The problem with this is that by covering the seitan after it is fried, it tends to lose the crispy outside due to the steam. Or if you cover it and there isn’t much moisture in the pan, then it can run this risk of burning before the seitan is cooked through. And I don’t know about you, but soggy burnt vegan chicken just isn’t my thing. The end result is spongey and rubbery, and just not super delicious.

The result is seitan that is crispy, juicy, chewy, tender, and absolutely amazing!!!! While I love all of my seitan recipes, , they do tend to take an hour or even longer to prepare. So I have fallen madly in love with this recipe as you just can’t beat the speed of this one!

How To Make Tofu Better

Easy Crunchy Roasted Chickpeas – How to Make Crunchy Chickpeas

Tofu makes an excellent substitute for chicken but unfortunately doesnt have a natural flavor leaning towards it. So, there are two main ways that you can elevate this ingredient and make it tastier!

The first is by using the best possible cooking techniques that resemble that of chicken.

As you may know, chicken itself is extremely versatile when it comes to cooking. But, for the best result, you have to use a technique that makes the exterior crispy.

You would be shocked to taste the massive difference between a raw piece and a pan-fried chunk of tofu. It is amazing! Anything that can add some texture to the tofu is a good cooking method to use.

This includes pan-frying, deep-frying, stir-frying, grilling, and roasting . For each of these, we will go into more detail and exactly how they change the tofu in flavor and texture.

Then, another way to elevate tofu and give it a more chicken-like flavor is by pairing it with ingredients and spices commonly associated with chicken. Using chicken spice is an obvious choice, but your options are far broader.

And finally, you can also make it more like chicken by playing around with textures. This can be achieved by either pairing it with crunchy ingredients or by making it crunchy.

The flavor is nothing if the texture doesnt work well and is appealing. This is why we dont like over or under-cooked food!

How To Make The Quickest And Easiest Seitan Recipe:

Add about an inch of water to a pot with a steamer basket and bring to a light boil.In the meantime, whisk together the vital wheat gluten, flour, vegetable broth powder, onion powder, garlic powder, and salt in a medium bowl.

Pour in the water and mix to form a ball of dough.

Lightly grease the steamer basket, then tear off bite-sized pieces of the seitan dough and place them in a single layer in the steamer basket.

Cover, and steam the seitan for 10 minutes. In the meantime, in a small bowl or a measuring glass, mix together the Thai sweet chili sauce, hoisin, soy sauce, water, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Set aside. .

When the seitan is done steaming, heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large skillet or non-stick pan. Use tongs to remove the seitan bites from the steamer basket, and place them into the hot oil in the pan. Be careful as it may splatter. Cook the seitan bites a few minutes per side until they are golden brown and crispy.

Remove from the heat and add the sauce and toss to coat.

Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if desired and serve hot.

2020 was a rough year for all of us. It has been a real challenge in endless ways. But with all of the struggles throughout the year, I was fortunate enough that there were several very special and exciting moments as well.

So before I jump into the Top 10 Vegan Recipes of 2020, I’d like to visit some other milestones that occurred this year.

In 2020 my blog received over 16 million page views with 7 million visitors from almost every country in the world. Woah! The enthusiasm for vegan food is apparent and growing and that makes me SOOOOO happy.

There seemed to be an even bigger boost than usual this year and my guess is that was because more people were cooking at home, and more people were interested in eating plant-based both because it’s the safer way to eat, and it’s actually the more affordable way to eat. I’m so happy that I was able to provide so many new people with scrumptious vegan recipes.

In April, I hit 100k followers on Instagram! Sure, numbers don’t really matter, but it’s hard to deny that when you see the shiny 100k on your Instagram profile it does a certain something to make you feel special.

Nothing Tastes Like It Used To

It doesnât taste like chicken! en Jack Talks en mp3(22/08 a las 21:03: ...

The womans mistake, it turned out, had nothing to do with the recipes shed been using. It had nothing to do with her cookware, her oven, the thickness of her dumplings, her gravy, the amount of salt and spices she used, the hardness of her tap water or any of the usual variables a home cook might place under the beam of doubt.

All that time, the problem was the flavor of the chicken itself.

Its a complaint we hear often from the blue-hair set. Nothing tastes the way it used to. We tend to dismiss it as the rose-tinted memory of times past or the result of failing taste buds. But they are on to something. Food has changed.

Chickens descent into blandness began in March 1948, in Easton, Maryland, at a grand event that would determine the way soups, broths and braises of chicken would taste for decades to come.

The Chicken of Tomorrow contest was conceived by Howard Doc Pierce, who was national poultry research director with A& P Food Stores, one of the largest grocery chains of the time.

For anyone in the chicken business, the late 1940s was the best of times, but also the worst of times. World War II, which had just ended, had been good to chicken farmers. As red meat was rationed, Americans almost doubled the amount of chicken they ate. But with the war over, Pierce worried that the spike in chicken consumption would come to a crashing end. Pierce wanted to stop that from happening.

Use A Chicken Marinade

Yes, you can actually marinate tofu. And, again, you dont have to change the chicken marinade recipe at all!

To marinate tofu, first, cut your pieces into the size you want. Then, place them inside the marinade and allow them to soak for at least 30 minutes.

You can also soak the entire block of tofu, but the flavor wont penetrate effectively throughout the entire block.

Once marinated, drain the tofu blocks or block. Then, you can continue cooking it as the recipe originally states. Marinated tofu is best cooked by pan-frying or roasting the pieces. But, you can also deep-fry and stir-fry them.

Quick & Easy Vegan Bacon

Perfect for a stress-free morning. Its so easy-peasy youre gonna love it!

I have several vegan bacon recipes on the blog including my famous Banana Peel Bacon, Wheat Starch Bacon, Mushroom Bacon, and Tofu Bacon Bits. I also have a recipes for Rice Paper Bacon and Coconut Bacon in my first cookbook Fuss-Free Vegan! So yeah, I guess I have a thing for making vegan bacon recipes.

While I love all of those recipes, I was craving a vegan bacon recipe that was even quicker and easier to prepare than any before! So I came up with this recipe for tofu bacon which I love because I can do the prep days in advance and then just cook it up when I’m ready to enjoy it. Leftover cold vegan bacon is really good too, making it great for meal prepping, BUT I warn you, if you leave this vegan bacon sitting out on the counter, it WILL get devoured and you will have to make it over again !
