Crockpot Buffalo Chicken Dip Ingredients
- Chicken breasts – frozen, minimum of 3 breasts
- Cream cheese – softened
- Ranch dressing – Hidden Vallen Ranch is our favorite!
- Red Hot sauce – we like Frank’s Red Hot the best!
- Cheddar cheese – shredded from the block
This hot dip starts with the shredded chicken. You can either cook your own chicken, or you can pick up a rotisserie chicken from the store, or even some canned chicken. If you have a stand mixer its easy to shred your chicken with the paddle attachment. Simply place the cooked and boneless chicken into the mixing bowl using the flat beater attachment and turn the mixer to a low speed for about 30 seconds to one minute. You can also shred the chicken with forks.
Want to create a more traditional wing flavor? Substitute blue cheese for the shredded cheddar cheese. You could also use Monterrey Jack or mozzarella cheese, or create a blend of different cheeses.
faYou have lots of choices for what to serve with your dip. Try putting together a platter with a variety of chips and veggies. Chips might include crackers, pretzels, or even pitas. For veggies, you could serve baby carrots, celery sticks, cucumbers, and bell pepper slices. Just take the lid off the crockpot and let everyone dig in with their favorites.
Oven Instructions For Baked Buffalo Chicken Dip
Its one of THE easiest recipes to make!
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
- Prepare the recipe as directed in the recipe card below. Then pour into a medium baking dish and sprinkle 1/2 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese on top and bake for 15-20 minutes or until bubbly. Its then ready to eat!
A great way to keep this warm is to use a crockpot on the counter or to take with you on the go!
If you bake it in a dish, use a thermal carrier to keep your dish warm. I love mine and use it often!
Note: You can also bake for 20 minutes or until the mixture is heated through and its hot and bubbly.

Storing Buffalo Chicken Dip
Prep ahead of time: You can mix together this dip the night before and put it in the refrigerator . When youre ready to eat let the dish come to room temperature and bake per instructions.
Storing this Dip: This dip will last for 3-4 days in the refrigerator.
Freezing Buffalo Chicken Dip: I havent tried freezing this dip but I wouldnt recommend it. I dont think it will freeze well. I think it would get watery/ and might not be as creamy.
Reheating Buffalo Chicken Dip: If you need to reheat this Buffalo Chicken Dip you can put it in your microwave for 1-2 minutes, or until cheese starts to melt.
You can also reheat it in a toaster oven, or use a crockpot set to warm to keep it warm throughout!
How Do You Keep Buffalo Chicken Dip From Separating
Like Butter, you want to avoid overheating or excessive reheating sessions. I like to blend the ingredients together to achieve the smoothest and creamiest results. Dumping all the ingredients together also results in fast fat separation as the ingredients were not properly blended in. As of a result the longer you bake a Buffalo dip the more youll start noticing red grease separate from the dip.
Although my buffalo dip recipe doesnt call for butter, Franks Red Hot Sauce has butter so its prone to happen in most recipes regardless, if not managed properly. Word of advice, mix the cream cheese first then add the ranch dressing and hot sauce. Fold in the chicken and cheese then bake up to 15 minutes.

Can I Freeze Buffalo Chicken Dip
Technically, yes you can freeze the dip. I strongly advise against it for two reasons though. One is that the consistency of cream cheese changes as it is frozen, and will turn into a crumbly texture.
The other reason is that I try to avoid freezing cooked chicken. While a number of food safety organizations say it is ok to freeze cooked poultry once, you have to be very careful. For me, this isnt a risk worth taking.
